About the Insane in the Brain Series
The “Insane in the Brain” series began with a colossal meltdown of a painting that went completely awry. Frustrated by the non-conforming paintbrush, I attacked the work with a barrage of strokes, a primal scream given physical form, resulting in the two-faced protagonist that is depicted in “Mind Melt”, the first painting of this series.
Many observers say that they see the manic, smiling face of a figure on the left, but to others they see terrified, screaming face on the right. Sexual images and offsetting elements were added to the work, some enticing the protagonist, others antagonizing him.
Since the first painting (the only in oil) this series has evolved, become more refined, each work taking on elements introduced in pieces done prior, each building upon the other as the series has progressed. This series has compelled me back time and again throughout the past months and years. It is my hope that those that look upon these works get where I am taking them and let loose as they get insane in the brain.
